This sculpture was made using the lost wax method for casting Bronze. This enables organic materials to be cast directly into bronze. Following this interest I became fascinated by material appearing to be wood; light and delicate, whilst instead having metallic properties that require grinding and welding to shape. This opened up opportunities to create illusions with the materials.
I aimed to create a sense of place inspired by local Suffolk landscapes, a meeting point between us and our natural world.
